My partner has AF also has LV ejection fraction of 40,%. A long history of high blood pressure. Following diagnosis his meds were bisoprolol, apixaban, for blood pressure lisinopril and doxazosin. He has had two short lived cardioversions . He has never had a stress test. He has had a tape , ECG, echo , x-ray and bloods. He has no chest pain or palpitations and was short of breath on climbing stairs but not to a severe level. He doesn't have high cholesterol. He was referred for a Diagnostic Angiogram to look for CHD and valve narrowings. Has anyone had a similar experience? I know that heart failure is low LV ejection fraction but this has never been elaborated has anyone in this similar situation? Has anyone been given a personalised care pathway or any treatment pathway for that matter?

Have the results been received ? If not, best to wait and the doctors will determine the best path forward. In the interim, do best to control his heart rate and blood pressure.

Best to You !

My EF is 40% which drops to 24% while in Afib. Among other drugs I am taking Entresto which seems to help with the heart failure. I am managing OK while in NSR at 40% but go into pulmonary oedema whilst in afib. So far Tikosyn fortunately has kept me in NSR (not available in UK))..Hopefully your EF will remain at 40 and further difficulties will be avoided. A co.plete workup should be done to rule out any other treatable causes of low EF and all measures to restore NSR should be taken. Best, etheral

You can have heart failure with a preserved ejection fraction which is about 65 to 70..I also have a stiff left ventricle and mine was preserved at the beginning..I have AF too and have had a cardio version which lasted 5 days they were still confident my ablation would work but alas..Good luck with your partners health and god bless..

I take 5 mg of Bisoprolol every evening around 7:00 pm. It is a Beta Blocker which is to work on lowering the bodies hormone release of adrenaline and then in turns lowers blood pressure. I have had no ill effects for this drug. My only issue is if I take it too close to going to bed, I sometimes felt anxious.

My injection fraction was 40% when I was on lisinopril and now I’mon en Tresto and it made my heart stronger. Good luck! Hope this helps.
