Bisoprolol didn't work for me and the only rate control medication that did for a short time was low dose digoxin. Since my successful cardioversions I have not been put back on any rate control medication but I have low rate AF so the bisoprolol was taking my rate down to 36 at times and making me feel really ill and fatigued - couldn't even walk downstairs - that was the day my wife phoned my EP and he said stop taking it straight away. You should be given bi annual blood tests while on the medication which hopefully will not any changes to liver and kidney functions. I hope your GP hears from your cardiologist soon. My GP wouldn't put me on any different medication without checking with the cardiologist first - luckily a quick phone call was all that was necessary. Hope things go well for you.

It seems a little odd to change the type of medicine instead of looking at an alternative? I moved from Bisoprolol to Nebivolol and I have had my Digoxin dosage dropped as it was making my BP go very low?

Bisoprolol is a Beta Blocker and Digoxin is Cardiac Glycoside? I must add I am not your standard AF'er (If there is one) but have an array of conditions that trying to balance a working drug regime is not an easy task. But unless your conditions have changed it does seem odd why they chose that route
