On the well known site drugs.com it is mentioned as a possible gastrointestinal side effect. Here's a link ... drugs.com/amlodipine.html

Hi,

I take 3.75mg of Bisoprolol daily which gave me loose bowel movements in the beginning but which resolved itself after a few weeks.

I also take 10mg of Amlodipine daily and do not have any trouble with it apart from mild swelling of the feet and ankles which is a very common side effect.

You will see that the Amlodipine leaflet lists diarrhoea as a common side effect affecting 1 in 10 people.

You could ask your doctor to change it but you may find that the alternative medication may cause you worse problems.

My suggestion would be to give your body a chance and continue to take it for a short while to see if your body can adjust to it.

Hope this helps.
