been up half the night 230am woke up breathing heavy and a heart beat of 136

Had a good run since Christmas but the problems are still there

I took a extra Bisoprolol and within half hour it was down to 50 amd breathing was normal Probably wrong to do but it’s the only meds I have along with Edoxaban

AF is truly a horrid condition isn't it! There we are minding our own business and them bam it comes from nowhere. It's the mental anguish it causes that's the main problem, isn't it. In the early days when it used to strike me in the night it felt like my heart was trying to get out of my chest. I thought I'd surely be found dead next day, but no 17 years later I'm still here and to be honest although I'm now in permanent low level AF, I can lead a fairly normal life. So don't ever give up hope of having a normal life again.

Are you under the care of an EP (Electrophysiologist) and have you tried avoiding eating foods containing artificial additives. I'm sure that's what has really helped reduce my AF burden

What amount of Bisoprolol are you on daily and how much extra did you take to calm your heart?

I think it's so easy to slip out of the care of the NHS system re cardiology care, I did for several years. Then last year I asked my GP if I could see a cardiologist and she gladly made an appointment for me which I had last August. I think the cardiologist I saw must have come out of retirement to help with the backlog of appointments as he was elderly and like a sweet old grandad. He looked at my ECG, told me to stop taking Flecainide as that could be causing my heart problems. Arranged a 24 hour heart monitor and booked me an echocardiogram. I was amazed at the good service. I hope you get treated as well when you see yours.

It's sods law when wearing those heart monitors isn't it! On those days I always feel so well and as though I could climb mountains! To me that just points to how much our minds must play a part in our AF attacks. When we wear them we feel secure.

Another bit of advice given from time to time on this forum is when getting out of bed, sit on the side of it for a minute or two. Suddenly waking and getting out of bed quickly is a common trigger for AF, or even worse a stroke - as my poor dad found out. Our hearts have to pump harder to get blood around our body when we go from lying in bed to standing, so an easy time for AF to strike too.

that’s good advice thank you

Feel so knocked out today one attack takes you out of action yet it’s a normal day

Yes an attack can certainly wear you out for days. My GP said to me it's like you've been running at absolutely full pelt for all the hours of AF you've had.

Have you tried BreatheRight nasal strips when sleeping (no personal commercial interest just know that brand works well)?

Have you done your homework on breathing mrjamesnestor.com/ oxygenadvantage.com/patrick... and on Youtube?

Have you had a sleep apnoea test?

Do you practice slow breathing in and out - aim for 6 per minute?

yes tried them . It’s not apnoea but I get why you that could be

This line like your air intake can’t keep up with your requirements as if the heart or lungs have a issue .During the attack yesterday I was breathless doing basic things all day .
