I’ve never been silly enough to try it - the original one anyway!

My husband did about 30 years ago - I think it lasted 3 days before he was in agony with his gut - which poked his AF into action.

Mind you the link you gave is about a Low Carb diet - which is certainly not the original Atkins diet and I have found that incredibly useful at decreasing AF and other arrythmias.

TBH I have never read such a misleading and totally unrepresentative depiction of a low carb diet! I saw the photo at the top of the article and thought WHAT! That’s not representative of a low carb diet so I’m not surprised you called it the Atkins Diet.

My version of low Carb is mainly vegetable based protein, almost no processed meats (the very occasional sausage), fish, meat or chicken once or twice a week only, small amount of cheese, almost no dairy and lots and lots of pulses, whole and ancient grains (nothing processed) seeds, nuts and fruit.

Suits me perfectly.

Sorry, perhaps the article isn’t really relevant. I should have said “any weight reducing diet which induces ketosis” because I wonder about the effect of ketones on the heart.

As I said - I’m not into the keto thing - I did the Zoe protocol to determine which foods helped & which I need to avoid so for me - I cannot clear lipids so have high cholesterol and my blood glucose levels are normally very steady so I know I some none processed carbs work for me, high protein/fats make me ill.

I’m just not in favour of any diet - period but very pro Lifestyle changes & good nutrition. Very different.

It may gave been coincidence but some years ago I ended up in hospital with Acute Kidney Failure ( now called Injury) after following Ketosis inducing diet.
