I guess it depends what you mean by a good social life !😁 I can only go by my experience of 4 ablations. I clearly remember 6 weeks after ablation no 3 , I was dancing the light fantastic at my sons wedding ( watched on in horror by my husband......) . And repeat performance 2 weeks later at my daughters nuptials . I must add that I'm not a drinker ( not for very many years) so only small glass of wine involved !

I would say that after a couple of weeks, providing you feel well, you can start slowly getting back to normal but avoid anything too strenuous or too much alcohol!

Obviously alcohol is a really bad idea as is marathon running. iron man competitions etc but after six weeks or so most normal activity is fine. Listen to your body and stay well hydrated.

Hi Lumps.

Hmmmm - let me think about this one for a minute. Got it......

When your body says you can. You'll know when - listen to your body.

The recovery time after ablation is different for everyone. Some people are able to return to normal activities within a week, but it may take up to three months or longer to fully recover. It is important to avoid strenuous activity or heavy lifting for a good period of time afterwards.

Why not take things slowly to start with? See how you feel in a week or so and maybe go out then to socialise. Take it easy and arrange a taxi there and back. Try two or three hours with your friends and if it goes well you're good to go.

PS - don't be tempted to have an acholic drink for a while when you start socialising. Give your heart time to settle down after the ablation. If not your heart may give you a telling-off!

Two ablations later I still haven’t had a alcholic drink in two years, I fear if I do I will almost certainly go into AF. Depends how confident you feel and how you think your heart will react. That’s of course if you mean a social life that includes a drink or two. Good luck 👍

I guess it also depends upon how intimate you want your socialising?

Take it slow and gradual and stay off the alcohol, listen to your body and rest when you tire, everyone under values rest -

R&R = we need rest to recuperate - just slow down and limit yourself and listen to your body, not your mind.
