are you sticking with riveroxaban or asking to change to Apixaban in light of recent research?

after heart attack, cardiac arrest leaving me in continuous AFib for 3 months requiring a cardio version ( heart attack caused by blood clot cholesterol normal) I’ve been on all the heart medications including riveroxaban with no real problems from the medications. I now have reduced ejection fraction of 46%, PAF very infrequently, none sustained ventricular tachycardia and benign SVT on occasions. I’m very fit with no real risk factors.

Riveroxaban has not caused any bleeding issues big or small- nothing at all.

the recent research that says Apixaban causes less risk of bleeding than riveroxaban has set me thinking should I ask to change? But my medications all happily get on with each other I’m frightened of causing any problems with the medications. What are others doing? Are you seeking a change from riveroxaban? I’m not asking anyone to decide for me but interested in other people’s thoughts please.

The data between the risk of intracranial bleeds between these drugs is not overwhelming. If If isn't broke, don't fixit...Best etheral

On this Forum I think the consensi has been Apixaban is the favourite but also there are pros and cons of each, lastly if it works best stick with it.

I would add my cardiologist who was pre-Covid the ACs area expert swapped my PIP from Rivaroxaban to he admitted the cheaper Edoxaban because of the findings of the former in research in USA.

Both hubby and l are on Rivaroxaban with no plans to change.

It will be 3 years in April that I have been on Rivaroxaban and I am ok at the moment. Hopefully I will be celebrating my 78th birthday in June. One day at a time. 😊😊😊

I started Warfarin in 1992 then moved onto Apixaban this century and still on it but I am the same of others if it is not broke why fix it but at least bring it up at your next Doctor/Consultant Visit.

My EP put me on Apixaban running up and during my Ablation so it must be effective, I'm still on it running up to my 2nd ablation. Ask your Cardiologist about a transition period and discuss any risk ratio factors with them. Good luck, NSVT sucks along with SVT

personally, I am a believer in the if it isn’t broken don’t fix it. I don’t intend to change from it unless my doctor tells me to I have no side effects and as you mention it gets along fine with everything else. My bruising if I hurt myself is minimal, when I first went on it, it was pretty bad. This is just me you have to decide for yourself because we are all different and of course see what your doctor has to say.
