I have taken these for a month without problem. I am in Persistent AF, well controlled symptom free, now about / hours after taking alpha blocker I get fluttery feeling, palpitations and a feeling of dread , I am agitated and feel awful, B/P and heart rate goes up but not dramatically, I am afraid to take them now

I used to take doxazosin and had no side effects or extra heart issues that I was aware of, but when I was prescribed losartan about eighteen months ago, as a "cardioprotective" (I don't have high BP), I was told to stop taking doxazosin by the cardiologist as he said it was the least "selective" alpha blocker and had too much effect on the heart and blood pressure.

I have to say that I had a tough time switching from it as my urination became rather difficult for a while, bringing me to fear I needed a prostate op. I switched first to tamsulosin, but when that proved ineffective without a double dose, I eventually settled on alfuzosin SR (once a day version). I gather tamsulosin has the least effect on the heart, but that alfuzosin is similarly safe.

(Interestingly, I heard a doctor yesterday pronounce doxazosin with an emphasis on the "az" and with a short "o", dox-az-usin whereas I had always said, dox-a-zoh-sin).
