My doctor wants to implant a heart rhythm monitor but I am not comfortable with that. Could I just get an Apple smart watch that (from what I read) monitors my rhythm and skip having an implant?

SCRM or Smart Watch

Well lucky you! An Apple Watch doesn’t monitor your heart rhythm to the same standard as a monitor at all. Of course I don’t know the reason for the monitor, here you are unlikely to be offered one unless really necessary but if you feel you are being put to too high expense then you could ask for a detailed explanation of why it is necessary.
I have an Apple Watch. My consultant told me that it’s not an ECG, more of a pulse recorder, and that it’s not a diagnostic device. My verdict on the Apple Watch is that it’s good for personal use. So far it has allowed me to check when I’ve been in Afib so I can take PIP but it can’t replace a medical grade ECG or recorder.
can I have yours if you don't want it? 😁
Everything you heart does being constantly monitored. How can that be anything other than fantastic? What is your concern?
If you don't have faith in the advice from your doctor it's probably time to consider switching to another doctor.
I had a loop recorder implanted and it caught my afib and wide complex tachycardia. The procedure isn't bad . I felt pressure but no pain when they did the procedure . I think it is definitely worth it, I wouldn't of caught the wide complex tachycardia that made me pass out if I didn't have it . I would definitely consider getting it. Take care out there
