Malignant Hypertension episode

Hi

I’ve had PAF for around 6 years, last episode a couple of years ago. I take Eliquis twice daily, with no ill effects and bisoprolol 2.5mg daily. A week ago I had my Pfizer booster jab. This was my 4th dose and since I had mild side effects (erratic heart rate, blood pressure raised) for a week on a previous occasion i chose not to have the flu jab at the same time.

24 hours later my temperature raised by about 1 degree and my heart rate increased. The next day the temperature was back to normal but my heart rate was raised and even walking was hard work. On Wednesday I took my blood pressure and was alarmed to find it was 188/122. An urgent visit to the GP, and prescription for blood pressure meds, followed. By evening there was no improvement so I was off to A/E where after a long wait and another dose it began to reduce. My heart rate remains stable but higher than usual and I continue to take the felodipine 5mg daily. All blood tests are normal and my GP has concluded at present that it could be a result of the vaccine.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I find that by doing deep breathing it will bring my BP down quite quickly. Give it a try next time.
