I’m convinced that there is a very strong hereditary component for many with AFib. I have AFib as do my 2 sisters and my brother. We all have very different lifestyles and also live in different countries.

There is no 'typical' AF patient, although AF occurs in men and women and can occur at any age, and yes, it is not unknown that AF can fun in families. I would certainly recommend registering for the online Patients Day - as you will be able to access and revisit the many presentations over the course of the next 12 months.

Familia AFib is now finding itself on the pages of medical journals although the data is still being analyzed while it's gathered.. My personal cardiologist belives that it is he has done his own research while being head of a large cardiology group at a major Hospital in the Greater Cleveland, Akron / Canton Ohio area here in the U.S. . So it was a natural for him to reach out on this subject he has pleanty of data to sift through. My Father had persistent Afib yet he was very active all his life used the older standby meds eating right so on. My older & younger brothers have it the latter is in persistent Afib and medicating for it but not attendibg to it as he should My older sister has had flair ups but it seemed to disappear several years ago she is proactive monitoring it frequently she's a department at head at one of the Cleveland Clinic Hospitals. I became pro active when it showed up on me several years ago I'm a very active 63 years old so for the long term I knew I to have stay on top of it. Yesterday I had a ablation performed for Prox-Afib itself vein isolation and still feel pretty good as of now. I was not in Afib going into the procedure yet it showed up whle they were ablating so they were able to catch some of the erratic electrical impulses that were going to my right atrium thst was a good moment time will tell.
