Background: 30 year old fit and healthy male, long history of ectopics and one episode of afib 2.5 years ago (electrically cardioverted in hospital).
I have started to notice that my ectopics seem to flare up in conjunction with hayfever symptoms, and looking back they have been worse at this time of year previously too. Has anyone else experienced this strange correlation, or have any explanation for it??
Many thanks,
Tom

I too get palpitations when my allergies flare up, in my case corresponding to when my cat(s) shed, but also during pollen season. A former cardiologist told me it's merely a histamine reaction.
Interesting, I assumed it was histamine related too, but googling doesn't generate many answers. Sorry to hear you get this issue, but reassuring nonetheless so thank you for replying!! All the best
Are you taking any meds or nasal inhaler for this. Stimulants such as pseudophedrine or inhalers such as Afrin or steroids can cause arrhythmia. Antihistamines by themselves may also predispose you. etheral
I always make sure I don't take any decongestants with those stimulants in but I have been taking claritin hay fever tablets (loratidine) which I think helped, and have now changed to Tesco hay fever tablets (cetirizine)
