Am in permanent Afib and having problems determining my heart rate as it’s very erratic.
Just bought this device and wondering what others with similar problem have to say about this Devi ce.
Your experience will be very helpful.
Thanks

Have you taken an ekg with it yet? If you're in afib, it should tell you that and also calculate your heart rate automatically. I find it fairly accurate, but you can double check by counting the number of QRS complexes on the ekg and multiplying by 2, assuming it's a 30 second ekg which is the default for Kardia. If it's not too fast and you can feel the pulse at the wrist, you also count for 30 seconds and multiply by 2.

The important parts of the procedure using a Kardia, that many people tend to ignore and get wrong, is to sit very quietly and don't move about or talk while taking a reading. Remember that the device is trying to measure electrical activity in your heart, by using connections down both arms, and any other electrical signals telling muscles to move have to be filtered out. Also, sit in a quiet place away from any other electrical activity, NOT next to the microwave for instance. It's only for a very short while, so have some patience.
Other than that, you will find it extremely useful indeed.
The recordings can be 'emailed' to yourself, or in my case stored in a cloud storage (I used to use Dropbox, but now somewhere else) from where I can refer to them on any of my devices, laptop, tablet or whatever, and also send them to my EP or print them out for my GP.
Is your gp interested in the results and if so what does he do about it.? I have only ever shown my results to a doctor if I need to see him about my heart but as I have given up talking to anyone about it I have not done so for years. I am in more or less permanent A/fib with sometimes a supra ventricular but whenever I have a vaccine or a problem either mental or physical it is back to A/fib. Sometimes not too bad and sometimes not. I always try to do as much as I can - stairs and hills a problem but I can walk on the flat for 2miles, play golf with a buggy and garden. This forum is the only way I can talk to anyone about my heart and hear what others say and it is a great comfort.
I agree. Many members here with a Kardia say they email results to their GP or EP. I wonder how they get to do that and do they ever even get looked at? Not even my Cardio Nurse would bother to look at mine.
I cannot imagine that my gp would be interested or would do anything. If my QoL gets to be such that I am desperate I will contact the Royal Brompton and see what they say or maybe demand an appointment with my cardiologist but he was pretty useless.
I had some kardia recordings showing a 5 second pause and my cardiologist did take notice of that and so did the EP he sent it to - I got a speedy offer of pacemaker or ablation. However I think that’s exceptional.
