I never understand how these stats can be considered anything but a finger in the air ?
I would like to see more stats on the Stroke risk , rather than just I have 5 x more chance of having a stroke because i have AF ? I have no other co morbidities so surely my stats are lower than someone with AF who has 3 other co morbidities
Thank you for your post, statistics are constantly changing due to the research conducted and medical breakthroughs via new treatment options. AF is not considered a life threatening condition, however, it does increase your risk of experiencing an AF-related stroke, and it can cause anxiety and pain for many individuals. Many do have other underlying health conditions that can exacerbate symptoms. Prevent, Detect, Correct is the key to helping in managing and relieving the symptoms which will be assessed and discussed with your Doctor\Consultant. If you would like any advice or information, please download our 'Preventing an AF-Related Stroke' booklet available on our webpage: afa.org.uk or alternatively contact our Patient Services Team on info@afa.org.uk
Goodness 😮 , imagine if all those people were also on the cardiologist waiting lists for an appt, the wait would be longer than it already is (currently 47 weeks at my hosp)!!
