I,be just been told to stop Bisoporol until I talk to keEP on the 4th of March. I presume I continue Apaxiban until then. Am I likely to exhibit any withdrawal effects? I,ve not been comfortable on best blockers to date and tachycardia has been down in low 40s and as low as 32.

Some people say to come off gradually but I just stopped as the side effects were just so bad 8 had been on Bisop for 5 months and had had enough one Saturday morning and felt

really ill and couldn’t even walk down stairs low BP and pulse. Told my wife I was not taking any more and as she was worried she called the hospital who contacted my cardi who called me and just told me to stop straight away. I had no problems and was glad to get rid of the side effects. I don’t think any withdrawal symptoms could have been as bad as my side effects but it may be best for most people who didn’t have my experience to come off slowly. Either call your pharmacist and discuss or call your GP or Cardio nurses.

All the best.

Well take care as most people seem to come off gradually so any problems speak to your GP or cardio / dial 111 or whatever. I think my cardio was so shocked at getting called at home he just said to my wife well tell him to stop taking it now. I really was in a state and as I had only been on them a matter of months he thought it would be OK. Good Luck.

Pharmacist feels as its the lowest dose should be ok. Much safer than the benzo's.

You really should have been given advice if there was any reason not to stop suddenly. I would ask to be sure as stopping beta blockers suddenly has been reported as being problematic in some people. I suspect this depends upon why you are taking them in the first place and on any underlying issues with the heart.

Always check with a GP about changes in medications.

I had been on Bisoprolol 5mg for years for blood pressure. These were increased to 10mg by the hospital when I went into persistent AF, then reduced to 7.5 because i had a really bad reaction. I saw an EP who put me on Dronedarone pending a CV. After the CV he told me to come if the Bis which I did cold Turkey it took about 3-4 weeks before I felt alright but it was worth it. I would never recommend anyone to stop taking meds. But your doctors has recommended that’s how you do it then no reason not to go down that road. Hope you feel a lot better soon. Keep taking the Apixaban though unless you have been told not to do.

In November last year I was told by my cardiologist to reduce Bisoprolol from7.5 mg to 5 mg I was told to do this over three weeks. Since I reduced to 2.5 my BP is the same and my resting heart rate has gone from 47/47 to 50/51. Otherwise no difference.

Hopefully, if you have been advised to stop you will feel so much better with an increased heart rate that you won't suffer side effects. Some people have no side effects stopping, unfortunately I had long bouts of tachycardia (100bpm +) and the jitters for a three or four months after stopping a daily dose of 1.25mg. Eventually it all calmed down. Best of luck.

Yes, I believe you should keep taking the apixaban. It's likely that you will need to take that for the rest of your life, but listen to the medical advice when you get it. Remember, we're (mostly) not medically qualified.

I had no withdrawal symptoms when I was suddenly taken off Bisoprolol years ago.

I stopped taking Biso straight away when my cardiologist advised me to stop. I felt a 100% better. Biso lowering my HR to below 40 during the night is not something I wanted with a history of AF . And that's when most of my episodes of AF started. I could set my watch. But I appreciate that Biso is doing a lot of AF sufferers a whole world of good.

Bisoprolol slowed my heart beat I had to stop taking it. I’m taking the blood thinner Apixaban 1 @ am and 1 @ pm.

I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to stop taking this.
