BP saga continues......

Just a quick update, after being told to cut down my Losartan to half the dose(50mg instead of 100) my BP stabilised for about a week.

Then started to drop again, spoke to next Dr and told to drop Losartan altogether.

All good, then the last 3 days have had reading higher than for about 8 years ( 140-166/80,100)

My one consolation in all the Af stuff has been my good BP I'm usually spot on 120/70 so I'm disappointed in myself lol!

The only thing that is stable is heart rate ranges from 45-55 ish

Just spoke to Dr 3 who says stay off Losartan still, give them 10 readings spread across a few days and see where we go.

I'm so fed up with it all. I know there's far worse than me but it just gets to me sometimes. No one wants to see me in person or to answer my questions about why its suddenly gone a bit weird, just put off.

I have tried to monitor myself,in terms of food, exercise, posture, taken readings on sitting and standing in case of POTS to see if I can find a clue but flailing in the dark really.

Has anyone else had a bumpy ride coming off Losartan almost cold turkey?

Hope you are all ok on this sunny cold day?

xxx

Sounds like there is something weird going on Wilson. Your latest quoted BP figures seem a little high. My Gp blew her top when mine was 140/80. I did have some postural dizzy/syncope events early last year and found mine had dropped to 100/60 from 120/70 but whatever was causing it went away after a month or two. As you might remember my average BPM is around 85.

I'm on the case and not being fobbed off. Yes higher than for years. .watch this space.Have emailed EP directly just now.

Up with this I shall not put! 😠😠

I took 100mg of Losartan a few years ago. I noticed that my blood pressure was quite low , so they cut the dose to 50mg. This still wasn't enough, so it was cut by half again. I attributed the fall in BP to retiring- but the doctors didn't comment. In general I've found Losartan to be an effective drug without side-effects.

I’m so sorry to hear this, Wilsond, it’s so frustrating when things keep going wrong and no one medical has the time or interest in seeing you or discussing possible causes etc. (I genuinely feel like I’m just managing all my own conditions and meds alone atm.)

Sorry I haven’t any wisdom re Losartan, just wanted to sympathise :) I do know that my BP is reactive to meds and also has phases of going high, then settling. My GP has never been bothered - even pre pandemic I mean, when I was getting regular checks.

Do let us know how you get on, won’t you? Jx

Oh dear, what a mess! I too am on Losartan but have never had to reduce this yet. I hope you are able to sort this out as it must be a real headache for you. As JaneFinn says, let us know what happens?
