Morning,Campers! What do you think of this?

4 years ago almost to the day when I had a TIA, I visited my Aunt again ,stayed for weekend very little sleep, long drive etc.

Got home and went food shopping, made 7 Xmas wreaths ( I sell these) then went to local brewery to watch the Charity Tractor Run.

As I was going IN( nothing had been inbibed!) I went very dizzy and went down . Husband partially caught me ,and I came round immediately. I had no tingling sensation on foot or mouth drop, slurring as in the TIA.

Took blood pressure at home 94/60 pulse 41 and very similar later on whilst waiting on GP call

I didn't want to go to A n E but managed to speak to GP. He put it down to low BP and I am to cut Losartan in half. I was on maximum dose. TBH I have often felt giddy lately.

Has anyone else had this experience? I often wonder if our meds aren't monitored enough against how we have responded to them. EG my friend was on 10 mg of Bisoprolol daily dose and was like a giddy zombie after a few months. Ended up in hospital after collapse and cracking head. Taken off immediately to 2.5.

My BP is normally 120/70 but pulse is always quite low now at around 50-55. Used to be higher pulse.of 70-80

Sorry for long post here!! If you got this far. I wish you a Happy Christmas and an AF free New Year!!

Take care Forum Friends and thank you for your invaluable support I don't know what I'd do without you at times xxx❤️💞❤️

And a happy Christmas to you. When I had paroxysmal AF I used to have that happening to me, each time my heart reverted to normal rhythm. But as I am now in persistent AF that has stopped happening. But I agree with you, we are given all these tablets and left to our own devices most of the time. My blood pressure is very often 90/60 and heart rate as low as 54 Keep well over Christmas and stop overdoing things.

Big hugs from Rienij. 🎄xx

Thank you my friend. I will do,it's hard to remember not superwoman anymore! I shall raise my glass of low alcohol wine to us all on Christmas day xx

I honestly think that there is a 'default' prescription for AF -i.e 2.5mg biso + anti coag. and a cross your fingers and hope it works. PAF is such an individual condition despite it being the most common arrhythmia and so little is known about it, that we are virtually compelled to do our own monitoring even though that is not advised by the medical profession!

You are so right, mine is 5mg Bisoprolol, 5mg Apixaban x2 , digoxin and Ramipril with a phone call once a year. The only thing we can do is listen to your body. And keep going.

I often have dizzy spells if my BP drops too low but in my case anything below 120/70 will do it. 100/60 will see me grabbing furniture to steady myself! HR is not that relevant for me since it is usually between 75 and 90 anyway.

Hi. But does your HR fall whilst a low BP.

I go on HR with my Complex contual A.F

Now controlled with Diltiazem 120mg Calcium Channel Blocker a.m and Bisoprolol 2.5mg at pm.

Hav a great festive season.

Its how one feels on statistics. Dizziness or low headache or lightheaded are OUT for me.

Hi Wilson :-) I have had a similar experiences of low BP/heart rate/feeling faint and once spent the morning with my legs up against the wall to help blood flow and to prevent my fainting. Living alone I worry about fainting. It has happened in the middle of the night too , very scary.

My BP is normally 120 something over 70 something with a HR of 48/51 , artificially low due to the betablockers I take.

A sudden drop in BP and HR happened a lot when I was taking flecainide and I frequently felt on the verge of fainting . I read somewhere that flecainide should not be taken if you have a low resting heart rate but no one told me this.

Wishing you a healthy year next year xx

Aha! I was focussing on the blood pressure tabs and 1.25 Bisoprolol, didn't know that about Flecanide I shall look into that.Thank you friend xx

Hope you are now feeling better. In my case a BP of 90/60 would have been normal but mine would often fall a lot lower, causing syncope and pre-syncope. It’s a horrible feeling.

Take care and have a very lovely Christmas.

Bad luck. It sounds like what you've said. My older friend has fallen twice from low BP and he has permanent AF but his BP is very much like yours.

Like you, I was put on losartan but only a few months ago (100mg / day), not because my blood pressure was high but because I have a degree of left branch bundle block (what a strange name) and the cardiologist said losartan had been shown to protect the heart well as we age (I'm 68). So far, however, I've been fine with it and stopped taking daily readings a while back. The lowest I recorded was 104/65 but it was often a bit higher. I've never felt any dizziness even after I've taken a bisoprolol although I only use 1.25mg as and when needed.

It's never nice when you get theses. It sounds like an episode of syncope. I had a presyncope the other day but managed to avert it by lying flat and putting my legs up. Likely your BP had dropped lower than when you first caught it. Check put York Cardiologist on this topic - syncope versus blackout- they're different. I found it helpful. Mine also happens when I've been overdoing it btw.

Look.after yourself, notice and warning signs and if indoubt lie down flat.

Yes this was happening to me every time I stood up so (new to me) GP has removed diuretic and halved bisoprolol. Worked a treat, no more swimming around and falling over!

Fainting and dizzy episodes are frightening (I get them too) and when I consulted Dr Google in over 50 percent of sufferers the cause can't be found. However, introduce beta blockers and other prescription drugs and there are a lot more possibilities. I totally agree that some GP practices don't monitor enough although mine does, they just don't renew the prescription until one has had a check. Coincidently, my friend recently had blood tests and her GP immediately called her in to the surgery, she is severely anaemic and within a day had to go to the hospital for a blood transfusion and iron infusion. She had already been complaining to the doctor about extreme dizziness and having recently been prescribed Bisoprolol she had been told by the doctor it was her 'getting used to it'.

Hope you are feeling better, have a lovely Christmas and take great care! xx

Hi Great festive season to you too.

Years ago I went low on Metoprolol which Losartan in that group.

I had lost weight due to two diarrhor times. It was due to this weight loss. Couldnt hold pill down so stopped cold turkey.

During the day 50s too low.

I would get reassessed fully. JOY. TAKE CARE.

Hi. Sorry to hear this. It happens to me occasionally on my combination of Flecainide Bisoprolol and BP drugs. I have worked out that it's often when I get dehydrated. So I asked my GP if it's OK to halve my diuretic tablet in hot weather - and got the OK - and it helps. Also drink more fluid for a while. But interesting to read the reply about Flecainide I often wonder about Flecainide and bradycardia so will check that out.
