I was diagnosed with Afib in late August. Had a cardioversion that lasted a week. Went on to Sotalol- kicking and screaming all the way. As of two days ago my 24/7 Afib stopped and I am in Sinus Rhythm. Dr. said it was due to Sotalol and if I stop it the Afib will return. My heart is enlarged noted from my ultrasound. I am still a little breathless but hoping that will subside if I stay in Sinus Rhythm. crossed.
ps. Sinus Rhythm occurred after a difficult hilly walk where I could hardly get my breath.

Sotalol was the first thing I was prescribed and it worked well for a while. Then it didn’t, Dr didn’t know why it stopped working after about 3 years. We tried 4 other meds which all failed. Ended up having an ablation but still take meds but lower doses and its much much better than it was. I was almost persistent, like 5 days out of 7 I was in AF.
I found, and still find that exercise can snap me back into sinus rhythm. It doesn’t always work but sometimes it does.
I have also lost 10kg in weight since April and that has also helped.
Sotalol has worked well for for 2 years. Now it is not working well but I’ve had less side effects than I did on flecanide. To be honest, whenever a medication works I am always so relieved that I take it gratefully. Hope the sotolol continues to help you for a long time. X
