I was on 7.5mg. My BP is 98/68. They’ve increased it to 5 mg twice a day.
I’ve just had my bisoprolol increased... - Atrial Fibrillati...
I’ve just had my bisoprolol increased. What is considered to be a too low BP when taking bisoprolol?
Hi Ewloe, the standard 'normal' low end blood pressure is considered to be 90/60. 'Normal' of course, is a subjective term, and it can fall below that and still be symptomless, or be higher and still cause symptoms. In any case if you are worried it's worth mentioning to your health professional, just to be sure, or if you are suffering dizziness, light-headedness or any other troubling symptoms.
When mine gets that low I start falling over if I get up too quickly. It's all about how you feel really as we are all different. Bisoprolol is generally prescribed in AF to reduce heart rate not BP.
Are you in permanent AF? Because if you are a BP monitor doesn’t work reliably.
Did not know that. Thanks for posting.
Below article gives an explanation and recommends BP be taken 3 consecutive times for most accurate reading. Seems to still be questionable.
Beta blockers do not lower BP by much. Your BP of 100/70 is not too low. Mine is the same and I'm happy with it.
Beta blockers reduce heart rate and decrease the pumping force of the heart. This would protect the heart if you have heart conditions such as heart failure.
Beta blockers do significantly lower your bp in my experience. If I need to take bisoprolol 1.25 as PIP I need to not take my normal bp meds as my by drops too low (92/63 rather than 120/80). If Ive already taken them its a day taking it easy in the house or garden.
Perhaps in your experience yes. People can react differently to medication.
Beta blockers are sometimes given together with a moduretic or other blood pressure drugs to lower BP but it is not the first line drug for BP.
My propranolol BB dropped my BP by 7 points only and had to add amlodipine.
