My Verapamil was stopped by the hospital when I suddenly had unexpected thumping Palps..It was found, strangely, my heart was too slow. I had been taking it for a few years but believe I had fallen through the cracks re. health care and my GP during lock down.

In 2015 I was diagnosed with Brugada, I was 59 years old. Because of this, I was not allowed any medication just ablations. I then went into AF which is very unusual for a Brugada patient. They checked with Hammersmith and put me on Verapamil and a Apixapan. Months later I had a cryo ablation and was taken off of Verapamil but left on thinners. I felt no ill effects from coming off Verapamil. My heart rate was always about 112. I started on magnesium and these have bought me down to between 80-90.

My first two didn’t work. Then a cardio version, that didn’t work. Then a cryo ablation, That seemed to work, but eighteen months on, I have started to get palpitations again, looks like I will have to ask to be seen again. Not a pleasant experience especially the cryo. Takes a couple of hours and you are awake for the whole procedure. Instant recovery except for maybe a bit of discomfort in the chest where the burning or freezing took place. Hope yours is successful.

Aww sorry to hear yours is back, when you say not please T could you feel the ablation? I'm so nervous if getting mine.. I mean for pvcs I get 8000 a day so e people are like its not necessary to get it done for such a small burden its like 8%...i dont know just so nervous to get done..

I was stopped abruptly from Verapamil years ago because of bad side effects and put on an alternative drug. I had no problem with stopping cold-turkey. It was the worse drug I ever took. Made me feel like a zombie.

I stopped the day of my ablation. I had no withdrawal or side effects. I was taking 120 mg a day.

It was for AF. I had a cryoballoon ablation in November of 2019 and have not had AF since. As as I stated above, I am not on any AF meds since then either.
