Not personally but we have had members here who said improvement over six month or more.

If you type Phrenic nerve in the search box on this forum it will throw up lots of posts relating to it.

Yes I had an ablation three years ago and had a paralysed phrenic nerve. I think it took me longer to recover ,although I felt better in myself. I couldn’t sleep on my right side and I needed to be propped up. I was breathless for a few months too. I was supposed to have a special X-ray …but as I heard nothing from the hospital I had to agitate to get it. I remember feeling quite weak at having to stand for some time and having to hold my breath. This was about four months after the ablation. There was supposed to be a follow up ,as I still hadn’t got full function back but as I was feeling so much better I didn’t agitate for it .

Frankly I felt the hospital were very casual about it.

However …three years down the line I am doing very well with my heart. I still get breathless…but I am 82 and a bit overweight ! I can lie on both sides …though I am more comfy on my left.

It obviously takes time to heal.

Good luck …rest and more rest

The hospital was probably casual about it because they thought you had legal recourse.

My wife had a damaged phrenic nerve following a cryoablation. They terminated the procedure when the problem became apparent. It took 10 months to resolve. She has subsequently had an RF ablation with no damage to the phrenic nerve.

Must admit we were worried that it was never going to resolve but one day she experienced a strange pins and needles sensation across her chest at the diaphragm level. Next time she saw the consultant, the X ray showed the diaphragm working normally again. Phew! I believe it can take even longer than 10 months. Equally it can resolve apparently in well under 6 months. Hope yours sorts itself out soon!

Hi Jacnc, Just had a Sniff test yesterday after 7 months of phrenic nerve paralysis and it has mostly recovered. My lung function compensated and improved over time so no dramatic sign it was back but my primary doctor heard bilateral breath sounds a couple of weeks ago that weren't there 2 months ago. The abalation was successful, they completed 3 of 4 nodes. No a fib, off all meds. No symptoms.Hope you have improved as well.

10 months sounds good to me! I’m on continuous oxygen and a ventilator at night, I was told could be 2 years… I don’t think anyone knows for sure. I’m glad your wife is going well-I’m not sure that I want to go forward with the ablation.. pretty scarey-but you know that 😊
