Had a permanent uneven heart rate for about 5 years now.Saw EP some years ago but he advised me i was better to stay as i as am, unless I was 37 and want to run marathons, as for me only 60% chance of success!

I am 68 next week!

Oh thanks for your reply. Can you feel the uneven rate. I can tonight but at other times I'm unaware. Ecg has shown possible a fib.

Sorry for the delay in replying. I don't check in every day on here.Yes I can feel the uneven rate, if I feel my pulse.......it misses one about every 10 or so.

I am not aware of it in my chest, if that is what you mean. Just occasionally it can give the odd whump or flutter as well.....and I am definitely aware of that......it's usually when i am settling down to sleep, or lay on my left side for too long. My heart really doesn't like that!

I assume you are taking some meds including anticoagulants.

I get AF most weeks and it can last another week. After initial onset I do slow yoga belly breathing which usually gets my resting HR below 100 within a quarter on an hour.

From then on HR fluctuates 70-100 and quite erratic. I just carry on as normal a life as possible (walking, yoga, gardening, mowing the lawn etc) until HR flicks back into NSR.

I think you will find that everyone on this site has had an “uneven” heart rate as this is what AF is - erratic and usually faster than normal. There is a lot of information on here so read as much as you can. Make a list of all your questions before seeing the EP. Are you on any medication?

Good luck 🍀

Thankyou. Yes verapimil and apixaban but the verapimil doesn't seem to do much. Tried 2 different beta blockers but took heart rate to low and felt breathless.

I took bisoprolol for a few months whilst waiting for ablation and did not like it. Maybe discuss rhythm control medication with EP and of course ablation. My ablation in 2013 stopped my AF and I am still in NSR.

Having some arrhythmias over last year or so but so far very manageable.
