Experience on verapamil 120mg
It worked very well for me for many years....as prescribed by GP.Then Covid came along and my heart condition went 'pear shaped' and the hospital whipped away the Verapamil in a trice claiming it was slowing my heart down too much etc, etc. i think i was yet another victim of GP neglect due to Covid.Long story short but that is it re. Verapamil. Make sure you know why Verap. has been chosen for you and not another drug....which I presume is to slow down your Afib?
Well I had few svt episodes and atrial flutter caught once , since like you having covid brought all this on. Cardiologist saw that I was on beta blocker and said nop we are changing you to this..
I have been on verapamil and Flecainide for about 10 years with no problem. Originally I was taking 240g with 300g Flecainide then nearly 4 years ago I had an ablation which was successful but as I had an occasional flutter I was put on 120 of verapamil and 100 Flecainide daily.I have been very happy with this combination since.
I have permanent afib, and on 3x80mg Verapamil daily. I was switched to it because of the side effects of beta blockers. I have mild constipation with it, but All Bran and exercise solve that. Other than that, fine.
I’ve been on 240 mg of Verapamil since January when I was switched from Bisoprolol to make sure my symptoms were due to my permanent fast AF rather than Bisoporol before being put in for a Pace and Ablate. . The Verapamil change has gone well but still have my symptoms but importantly no side effects at all.
Collapsed, unconscious and ended up in an ambulance as HR dropped from 90 to 35 in about five minutes! Haven't tried it since obviously 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes I'm on it but not sure it's doing anything.
Many people have no problem with Verapamil, but it's the one drug I just couldn't tolerate. My doc at the time prescribed it for a-fib, but it left me feeling like a zombie and rather sickish too. It dropped my BP so low I almost fell asleep at work. The change in my work product was noticed by my superiors as well. There are other alternative drugs that work as well as Verapamil, but my GP at the time wouldn't take me off it, so I fired him.
