Purple splotches

Have suddenly started coming up with purple splotches on my arms and blue bruises on my legs.

Am currently on 150 x2 Dabigatran a day. Can one be over-anticoagulated?

Could this be thyroid related? I've just downloaded the symptoms list for hypothyroidism -blotching and bruising is on the list.

Diagnosed with under active thyroid 16 years ago. Take 125 Levo a day. Purple splotches started arriving last two weeks

Fair enough. I'd definitely get it checked out.

Just read this thread - and I agree about Dr Google! Sending best wishes and hoping the (real) GP is helpful. Do let us know what s/he says, won’t you? Xx

Do you use asthmatic inhalers! My partner suffers from this and doctors said this may be cause. Check with your doctor!

No, something I don’t take yet

I have been through all of the anticoagulants and have just gone back to Dabigatran. My dose prescribed by a haematologist is 110mg twice a day. Maybe 150mg is a little too high for you. We are all different.

When is was on warfarin if my INR was above 2.2 I would get slight nose bleeds, and I bruised so easily. Not found that with the NOAC’s though.

Best to see what your doctor says.

He just said age and Dabigatran! Tried explaining only recently started occurring but no joy as recent blood test perfect. Going to have B12 tested next week to see if that is it xx

Hi Hylda I had the same thing a few months ago finger tip sized bruises all over. Spoke to GP had blood tests then spoke to Arrythmia nurses no one could give me an answer. They kept coming for a week then disappeared and haven’t had any since. I hope you get them sorted as it’s horrible when these things occur and no one can put your mind to rest.

Thank you so much. Dr just said age and Dabigatran but why would they suddenly appear now and not last week or the week before? xx
