I have A-fib and I am on Elequis. Should I be wearing a medical bracelet in case of a severe bleed? What should I say on it?

I have a bracelet which says Taking Anticoagulant and a necklace that says Pacemaker and Apixaban. I don't wear the necklace these days as it's quite heavy and annoying. I also keep the Eliquis alert card in my purse.

Yes, it’s a good idea, especially if as your name suggests, you play sports. There are so many options available, the easiest way is to search on Google to find something which suits you. I would have thought the information contained on the alert card which comes with every packet would be a good guide regarding relevant information........

Just to add to the above, don't forget to put something in your mobile phone under SOS or ICE (In case of emergency) stating anticoagulant and the name. I am told emergency services check those . In my phone under ICE in address book it says Warfarin, contact ----and my wfe's name.

I have an SOS Talisman bracelet which I never take off. Also on my phone under ICE.Must admit I do have a lot on there.

I have a rare blood group so cannot be given universal group O in an emergency.

No right radial pulse (due to angiogram complication).

No needles or BP cuffs right arm.

I also have a Warfarin card and one for my blood group on my purse.

Hopefully, somebody would find some of these in an emergency. 😄

I just keep the card that comes with the anticoagulant in my handbag but I used to wear a necklace so its personal choice. I also have a pacemaker but it is visible on the surface of my chest so can be seen.

Combination of BobD and opal11uk. MY wife uses the card that comes with the medicine to list all the meds she's on and puts it in the phone case to if they open it looking for the ICE they will see it.

I wear a silicone wrist band saying " Rivaroxiban medicated & anticoagulant . Being silicone it's easy to wear and doesn't have to be removed when swimming etc. Available if you check out Google xJean

You can buy a dog tag which goes on your laces or on a rubber bracelet type thingy. It can say whatever you want ie emergency contact details etc. I'll see if I can find the link....

I carry alert cards in several places at once (the ones that come in the box) one in my purse, one in my handbag, one in my mobile phone case and one in the car.

I wear a bright red silicone bracelet with medical alert in large letters on the outside. Inside it says my name AF and HF. Anticoagulated Rivaroxaban - Do not take blood pressure/blood/insert canular in right arm/lymph node removal/breast cancer. I wear this on my right wrist, hopefully this would be read before medics started sticking needles in me lol . I also carry details in my handbag with all meds ect.

It’s very personal - I don’t but have an medical alert on my phone which shows all emergency details, paramedics should be aware of that facility.

Apixaban is not something that worries me as I have other conditions which I need to alert paramedics about & it wouldn’t all fit on a bracelet!

I have a silicone bracelet that says On Apixaban. I laso have a much more attractive metal one that gives my name and address and also On Apixaban. Not a bad idea to have one, although I also carry the warning card that comes with my prescription every month

Look online for medical alert jewellary, there's no shortage of suppliers, you can buy pre worded items or order what you want engraved.

I think it is important to wear an alert bracelet particularly if you take anticoagulants Should you bang your head and become unconscious it is a factor that should be taken into account.
