That is a very low dose. I took verapamil for years and started with 80mg twice daily and then 120 twice daily. It worked for me until other heart problems meant Verapimil was not as effective as it had been . Now on Bisoprolol which suits my condition better.

I have been on verapamil for years but I have always taken with Flecainide.I did take 240g a day at one time when on a high dose of flecainide. I now take 120g with 50g of flecainide. I have found the 2 go together well

Hi there, I agree with the previous reply, that is a starter dose, that might be enough for some people.Dose range can go up to 480mg per day. I was switched from Bisoprolol which wasn't working for me to Verapamil slow release 120mgs once a day. This wasn't enough to control AF resulting in a super fast HR and a trip to A&E in an ambulance. Dose increased to 120mg twice a day and within 24hrs I was out of AF.

Perhaps check in with your Gp. Hope things improve for you.

I personally would ask for a different medication that does the same thing. I was on verapamil many years ago with bad side effects and I still had a-fib. My doc wouldn't take me off, so I fired him. The new cardiologist switched to another med which worked wonderfully for a while.
