Yes i take lots, 13 tablets a day but if we need them we need them 🤷♀️
Doctors love to prescribe medications. Eventually they give you meds to mitigate the side effects from previous meds prescribed. Now, they even have gerontology Doctors who specialize in med analysis and winnowing down the unnecessary drug load on elderly.
It's good to be vigilant about what they prescribe for you. I've read so many stories about people who consult a Naturopath or Chiropractic Doctor who puts them on a program ... and soon their regular doctor is able to drop dosages or eliminate unnecessary medications.
Remember ... you are the majority stakeholder in your health; the Doctor advisor is the 'minority' stakeholder. Every prescription drug shuts down enzymatic or hormonal processes in the body and places a load on liver and other various body systems. You have to weigh the risks versus the benefits.
I take levothyroxine but do not regard it as a med. A properly functioning thyroid makes this so it is part of our physiology. We are just replacing what our bodies no longer make i sufficient quantity for good health. The same cannot be said for the other things and I would be inclined to question their absolute necessity and why they were prescribed in the first place. But then I am the sort of patient docs label as non compliant !
I take apixaban, levothyroxine (doesn't work), bisoprolol (ditto) and 2.5mg of digoxin, sometimes 5mg, plus a variety of supplements, selected with some care. The first is for atrial fibrillation, the second was prescribed more or less on a whim. Unlike many with AF, my resting pulse rate is slow and made slower by digoxin, but my heart feels calm day and night. I can easily raise my pulse rate to 160 exercising. It drops again quickly.
I take 5 in the morning, one at lunchtime, three in the evening and two in the middle of the night! I rattle and glow in the dark, but still here to tell the tale 🙄
