Hi Barnac, I recall someone on this forum, within the last few weeks, saying exactly the same thing. I think they eventually ended up taking half of their original dose.

I found 40 mg night and morning wasn't enough. My cardiologist said that I could double it if I felt I needed to, but I decided to take just one more 40 mg tablet at lunchtime. I now have one when I wake, one at lunchtime and 7pm at night. I have been much better on this regime and didn't want to take any more than was required to do the job.

Having reacted badly to Bisoprolol, and Flecainide I am pleased that Sotalol is working and hope it does the same for you.

Hi wndlespoons, you are exactly the same as me! Bisoprolol and Flecainide didn't suit me either and eventually I ended up with a pro - arrhythmia. I referred to a top EP and he took me off that combination and put me on sotalol. I have been 100% better on 40mg twice daily, but he also told me to take an extra one a lunchtime if I felt I needed it, as long as they were well spaced out

Hi Karendeena. Nice to hear from you. That's interesting as I just took it upon myself to take the extra one. I was finding that after meals I was struggling and had to rest. Was starting to dread eating! This regime has improved my reaction to food. Yes I still rest but don't feel anywhere near as wiped out.

Thank you for replying. 😊

Hi again, that's even more interesting, my afib tends to associate jtself with food! I feel the flutters either when I'm hungry or after I've eaten, either way food seems to be a trigger

Spot on. Me too. Probably too much information, but I find that I suffer from wind a lot since I started with AF and as it moves around it causes missed heartbeats. It worried me at first but I've now got used to it after 5 years. I'm finally now on the waiting list for an ablation. 😸

Hi there my friend, again same symptoms, me too with the wind! 😄If you don't mind me asking how often do your episodes come? My EP wants to leave it a bit longer for an ablation event though he says the earlier the intervention the better the success

Hi again. My episodes were every month, but I am tempting fate by saying I've gone longer this time! After going into A&E half a dozen times I discussed with my cardiologist how to try to cope with it myself as it seems pointless to have that stress. Last time I was waiting for hours to be seen (as usual) and ended up asking a nurse to see if she could find out which pill they usually gave me and please get me one! She did bless her and apparently it was Bisoprolol. Made me think what am I doing here when I could be advised on how to stave off an episode at home.

Anyway the cardiologist has recently told me just to take extra Sotalol and not Bisoprolol during an episode. AF treatments are a bemusing minefield. It's finding what suits you and educating yourself, which this site provides.

The advice you have been given is seemingly contradicting itself. See what I mean about bemusing.🙄☺️
