My stepdad had been on warfarin for a few years, last Saturday he told he brother the doctor had taken him off it, Friday he was found dead in his bed 😢 I’m heartbroken and can’t help thinking the sudden stop of the medication is the reason why he passed, I spoke to him on the Monday and he said he had irritable bowel, that was the last time anyone spoke him.

So sorry to hear of your sad loss you must be devastated. Such a horrendous time for you all. I do hope time gives you some comfort in the loss of your dear one and loving lasting memories give you some solace. Best wishes.

I am so sorry to hear about your step dad. It is a great shock when a loved one passes. I will be thinking of you during this difficult time.

A terrible time for you and your family Rio, such a difficult time for you all. I would have thought that there will be an autopsy to determine the cause of death so hopefully that will help to bring some closure. Best wishes.........

I'm so sorry to read that. A lot of us are suffering losses at present for differing reasons I know from personal experience.

Please don't pre-empt the inevitable autopsy. I know that there is a tendency to want to blame in such circumstances but the two may not be connected. If his doctor was concerned about internal bleeding then stopping warfarin was the right thing to do.

Always a shock when a loved one dies, so sorry for you loss.

If your step-dad had IBS then I can understand the GP wanting to cease anticoagulation as the risk from bleeds would increase.

I think when a loved one dies suddenly then we need to have explanations and sometimes want to blame. Hopefully you will receive some answers.

I'm so sorry to hear your news and can understand what a shock your step fathers death must have been for you all. May I ask how old he was?

As others have said, his doctor would probably have had a good reason for stopping his Warfarin. It would certainly be interesting to hear why that was.

Thinking of you at this sad time.

Think you need to establish the cause of death first. I he died of a blood clot stopping Warfarin could be the cause I would think but you need to speak to doctor who issued the death certificate ?
