I think we have. They are in more common use in the US or in private medicine in the UK. I think the Zio patch is the one mostly used? Others may be more knowledgeable.

Try searching Zio patch. Not widely available here in UK as far as I know.

Did it not connect well to the bits you stick on your skin? I had trouble with the connectors on the Holter monitor, you were supposed just to be able to use them like poppers but mine wouldn't pop back on again.

Yes it wouldn't stick, even with duct tape over it. There is a light that flashes if its not working properly, so i had to abandon my 48 hr reading for a 24 hr one. Very convenient bit of kit when it works.

I felt that the main advantages would be how much more data it could store and it would save trips to the hospital. I didn't find the Holter monitor very inconvenient but I suppose it could be for some.

On a slightly different tack, I have bought a digital thermometer because I've had difficulty shaking the mercury down in the glass ones. It might be handy if I have a reaction to the vaccine!!

Yes, I have bought a new thermometer and an oximeter and a home oxygen machine! Wondering now if I ought to start on the vit D?!

Yes! Even if you did a lot of sunbathing in summer your stocks are being used all the time and the longer you leave it the lower they will get.

I've got an oximeter which I can't say I've used much but please, please start on the vitamin D. I'm a recent convert after taking 12.5 mcg a day for years and then finding I was deficient. You can get three months worth of 25 mcg tablets for £3.50 from Tesco's but you can get them anywhere.

Thanks, I'm onto it.

I got the feeling that these monitors would be capable of storing a lot more data on the chip than Holter monitors but I may be wrong.

I don't know why they don't use Apple watches more. If the heart rates that are recorded every two or three minutes, about 300 times a day, could be downloaded to a computer it would give the doctor a good idea what was going on.

Yes they can store a lot more data. I have had one twice, both for a week. The second time I called cardiologist because I had not had any AF, so he said keep it on for another week. Typical because at the time I was getting AF at least once a week.My AF came the next day so I took it off and sent it off.

It is much easier than a holter monitor and you can shower with it on, so long as you don’t let the shower spray directly on to it.
