Hi All, I’m new here and don’t know much about Afib but could do with some help. I had a heart attack in March this year and 1 stent fitted which has been fine. A few twinges here and there but all in all I am now healthier than I have been for years. I eat well, exercise daily and am at my perfect BMI. Recently I have had increasing afib eposodes sometimes lasting all evening. Do I need to worry?, should I go to doctors and risk the virus or is it the sort of thing that can wait? Your help would be appreciated. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Unless you have already seen a cardiologist about your AF and are on a treatment plan it is important that you speak to your doctor. AF makes us five times more at risk of stroke so anticoagulation is important and I don't mean aspirin which no doubt you are on for your stent.
AF is generally considered a chronic condition not one that needs urgent attention such as A and E but if you have any chest pain or shortness of breath then please contact emergency services.
Read all you can from our main website heartrhythmalliance.org/afa/uk/for-patients and ask any questions.
Thankyou BobD, I am on aspirin and ticagrelor for anticoagulation and don’t suffer with any other symptoms or pain that I would associate with the heart so as you say, a chronic condition. Maybe I will phone the doctor in the week to talk it through. Thankyou
