What should your INR range be while on Apixaban
Apixaban: What should your INR range be... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Apixaban
I've never had it tested.
Just looked it up and it says blood tests for clotting are not needed on Apixaban.
Apixaban is a different kind of anticoagulant which does not have INR readings. It works on a different part of the clotting process to warfarin so needs no testing.
As Bob says - INR is a test for people who take Wafarin.
Apixaban inhibits what is called factor X whereas Wafarin is known as factor K inhibitor - INR tests for factor K,
Wafarin interacts with any foods which contain VitK whereas Apixaban doesn’t so you don’t need to worry about what you eat or testing for INR.
It just works.
You should have a test of kidney function every 6 to 12 months. That’s the only test required.
Hi - I am fine with Apixaban, no probs but sometimes would like to take ibuprofen or Naproxen but can't (have done, naughtily a couple of times)
