I hope this finds everyone as well as can be expected in these crazy times. I think we are under more stress than we realize which is not great for AF sufferers. I am reducing my Bisoprolol from 2.5 to 1.25 - I will be taking it in the evening. I have found myself to be very dizzy and lethargic lately with a resting heart rate as low as 36 but usually between 47-52. Wondering how long it takes to see a change. I have only reduced the amount for 2 days. Any and all feedback is appreciated.

Are reducing the dose after consulting your Doctor because your heart rate at 36 is very low. I know that patients need to be weaned off of taking Bisoprolol over a fairly long period so any changes may take a while but it’s something you need to check with your Doctor.
Yes my GP and the Emergency room cardiologist suggested reducing it from 2.5 to the 1.25 due to my low heart rates. I was just curious if it took a while to see any change.
You re only on a low dose of Bisoprolol so I would think you should see the effects quite soon .
In the past I have been on that dose and halved and eventually stopped over a relatively short period but my heart rate wasn't low like yours , more like 60/70 If I remember correctly. Felt so much better without it and now only take as a Pill in the Pocket when AF starts.
Hi Pam. I recently had the same problem, I was on 2.5, hr was down to 36/38 felt so tired. My consultant told me come straight off it, I had 3 weeks of anxiety, flutters and mild AF, but my hr increased to 50 and now I feel great, I know normally you should reduce slowly but the consultant felt it necessary. When I reduced from 3.75 to 2.5 it took about a week to increase my hr to 42. Hope this is helpful. Denise
I went down from 2.5 to 1.25 because I felt like I was in second gear...just no gusto walking......I found it was fine no problems and I felt pretty soon I was in fourth gear....I have never reached sixth gear though! But that may be a combination of age and bisoprolol eh!
Thanks for this helpful feedback. It is good to know that there are people out there only on 1.25 and that they have had good results. My first cardiologist kept stressing that I could end up with a proarrhythmia if I didn't take the 2.5 but I seriously had no quality of life on that amount. My family doctor was concerned with the low heart rate as she said an ongoing low heart rate could create lots of issues and should be addressed. I am hoping to have more energy soon and to feel more like myself. Do you take an anti -arrhythmia medication?
Hello Pam I am on 10mg as I have a pacemaker and also suffer from AF the only way to keep me on even keel is to up my meds from 2.5 to 10. It does take a bit of getting used to. But go with it and it will settle down.
