I emailed my EP when I knew I had to have ankle surgery to ask let him know what was happening and see if he had any pre surgery recommendations. I’d say my surgeon has been in touch with him too as I received a text today with an appointment to see my EP a few days before my scheduled surgery (I wasn’t due to see him again until March 2021). I’ll be interested to see what he has to say. I was expecting an email or maybe a phone call. For some reason it made me more nervous being asked to come in to his office.

You have been summoned by the head master!
I'm sure you'll be fine Kaz. I think they are just verging on the edge of caution. I would try not worry to much
As Bob says you have been summoned by the headmaster ! Only worry if if he you gives you 100 lines and writes your name down in the punshment book.
Good luck with it and I hope your ankle surgery goes well - I'm sure it will.

Couldn't you have a lumbar puncture, which means you don't have a general anesthetic, my husband had major leg surgery, and had this procedure, because of his heart condition, might be a good idea to ask him about it.
I know people do that but don’t think I could cope with being awake. I’ve had a number of anaesthetics since having my arrhythmias and at the moment my heart is beating beautifully. I’ll see what they all say - I know I’m in good hands.
You can still have sedation with the local anaesthetic. I have had that done for a hip replacement and knee replacement. Main thing is that you recover from the anaesthetic much quicker and therefore can get on with your recovery sooner too without feeling bad from the GA .
I had my first ablation under sedation and that was a dreadful experience so I’d prefer to be knocked out 🤪. I’ve had plenty of anaesthetics over the years and I’ve never had a bad reaction. I won’t be able to put my foot on the ground for 6 -10 weeks so I’ll be laid up for a while.
I think it is kinder for your heart my husband said he was out if it with the sedation they gave him, could hear voices but definitely out if it...
A lot of people have said that but I was constantly waking up and was in pain and uncomfortable. That was an ablation for SVT and the EP had to stop and tried again a few months later with a GA. He wanted to do it under sedation so they could trigger the arrhythmia but he said had he known how easy it would be he’d have organised an anaesthetist first time around. I’ll see what the three doctors say (surgeon, anaesthetic and EP). 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Your EP will look after you & make sure all is ok for the orthos to do your ankle safely. I'm sure he's just doing his best for you, possibly warn you that your heart may misbehave again and do everything he can to prevent that happening. xxx
