I was on rivaroxaban for about 2 years and I didn’t notice any weight gain. However I did notice hair loss.
Having said that I am now on apixaban and although that is fine, I still have a bit of hair loss, but I had to see my GP about something else and in the blood test it showed that I was extremely low in zinc. Had a course of tablets and much better.
Now have just come out of hospital as the ugly beast attacked afib/tachycardia and blood tests found again zinc a bit low, but extremely low on potassium and magnesium. They said that was caused through the furosemide though and nothing to do with the anti-coagulants. I have put on weight, but think that is my fault as bad back so not walking much and during lockdown I kept making cakes and as the family live so far away....we ate them! Good luck with your weight I know how frustrating it is.
cakes !! yeah .. i am not baking or bringing lot of bakery for the same reason. But this constant weight gain is very disappointing. i do go for as walk everyday and try to eat less. but looks like nothings enuf!
Hi … I didn't have any weight gain, but my heart guy took me off them several months after my ablation was done and he said I didn't need them again until I reached an age he thought i should take them again … lol keep a record of your weight morning and night and if your ankles/legs are swollen or not, may be take a photo of them in the morning before you get out of bed and then have a look at them when you get back into bed at night and retake another photo same angle. this way you will have a record of any fluid you may be holding. do this for a few days to a week and then go see your GP or heart guy with your research photos and weight record. you might need a fluid tablet . If you have added salt cut it out and see if that makes a difference as well. always consult with your GP. Its ok to get ideas from here but please check with your doctor.... and don't stress if you can help it either. stay safe .. cheers Jo
Can i really happen between day and night?? my weight does fluctuate a lot... alot means around 2-3 kgs early morning to night time !! always wondered why !! and what is fluid tablet
Hi ... yes it may be fluid which happens if things are not quite right ... yes if your weight is up to 3 kg more at night ... it could be fluid... and fluid pills are diuretics that helps you get rid of fluid ... so if you can do the pictures or measure your ankles morning and night and keep a record of your weight ... night and morning ...and may be how many times you get up to the loo in the night if you do ... then visit your GP and talk with them about what’s happening..And what you have written down ... . if nothing else you may find it might be just the way your body is handling itself .. or could be a problem that you have noticed with your weight increasing ... then again it might be this Covid lock down and not so much exercise being done too... I know I’m more swollen in legs with our Covid thing ... anyway be safe :)Jo
