I`ve been taking it for 3 years with no noticable side effects. Theoretically it prolongs QT intervals, which can make you prone to dangerous Ventricular Tachycardia. This is why you have to be hospitalized when it is started. Day to day it you have to take it every 12 hrs and make sure you are not taking any other drugs that also prolong QT intervals. It has kept me in NSR without any dysrythmia.

May I ask, has it kept you in rhythm all these 5 years? Any hiccups at all? What type of arrhythmia do you have?

Thank you.

I have paroxysmal afib...comes and goes. Ablations did not take care of the problem but Tikosyn does seem to keep it at bay for the most part. Mine seems to go out of rhythm mostly at dinnertime for some reason. Tikosyn is taken twice a day and the evening dose will usually get me back in rhythm. Working to work on my triggers now.

Thank you for your response. I have had two ablations now. First one for paroxysmal afib, but after that ablation I developed paroxysmal AFlutter, which only sometimes converted on its own. The second ablation, 12 days ago, was unable to fix the flutter, so am now on Tikosyn. Have only been on it for a short time, but I fear the flutter will breakthrough. Maybe an irrational fear! Need to work on positive thinking and relaxing about I think. Thanks again.
