After an Interesting week away ,100 Miles from home with no car,AF all over shop,no recourse to medics ( consultant away till ,Sept 1st and apparent no one else in the universe able to offer advice, believe me I tried) I have terminated it by going back to original flecanide / biso dosage...100mg X2.+ 2.5 mg
There will be words said when I get back ...just wanted guidance and meds advice.
Bad enough looking after aunty doing an Oscar winning performance ...say no more on that. Suffice to say I was seriously thinking of a stroll to the garage shop ( the only one in this Lincolnshire village) for chocolate and some Gin! Rose above it though.
Frustrating isn't it when we are left high n dry? I tried all my contacts ..AF nurse,GP,EP .
Sending off Kardia readings to all n sundry in the hope some one might pick up! ..
All's well that ends well...fingers crossed.
Take care all xc

I think medics assume you will go to A&E if you can’t cope, no consideration for those who are not in a position to! Was 111 not an option? Anyway, great that your common sense got you through, not to mention your self restraint 😇
I can fully sympathise with you . The feeling of “ what is going on??” Coupled with the knowledge that a call to 111 will almost certainly (and very sensibly) say go to A & E ... all leads to feeling trapped and anxious.
I keep notes On my computer of all my conversations and things that reassure me and Read them at times like this ... it helps... but only a bit.
That's a good idea! As you say A and E probably all 111 would say . I'm going home tomorrow so wanted to hang on if I could . Hospital here is always packed and hasn't got a brilliant reputation !
If you refuse because of circumstances, they send an ambulance - it has happened to me! The responders then take a proper ECG and decide from that whether you should be in hospital but you can still refuse to go and at least you have a record to refer to, assuming it doesn’t get lost of course 😕
In these times it seems like a good plan to have notes of advice, as you have, which can be referred to when immediate advice is not available.
I envy people who have options as I can only top up my medication by a tiny amount before heading to A&E if things don’t settle.
Its hopeless trying to get any medical advice, when you need it, isn't it!
A few weeks ago, in the middle of the night, my newly problematic gallstones were agonising and I dialled the 111 number just hoping for some advice on how I could sooth it. I was told a doctor would call me back in the next two hours. My reply was, no don't bother, if this pain stops I'll be going to sleep! It was the truth!
I had an episode a few months ago, only my 2nd. Needless to say in the early hours🙄 phoned 111 looking for advice, waste of time and had to go to a&e, 3am, 10 mile drive and luckily husband could take me. The stupid advice that if I feel worse etc phone them again, how if your in the car heading to hospital 🤷🏼♀️ sat in a virtually empty a&e for hours waiting 😳 long story, EVENTUALLY someone phoned cardiology got advice I needed, take higher dose 😳
In the good old days when you could call an out of hours GP at your local hospital I had a little AF panic and a kind Dr soothed me and said as I was on a low dose of Propafenone I could simply take an extra dose. Problem solved! Now our local hospital trust has a pop up on their website you can click on for urgent medical queries but I only saw it because I was sorting my husband out with a video physio appointment 🙄 How are you supposed to use a service you don’t even know is available? 😤
Years ago when I was little, we needed the dr, mum had to nip to the corner shop , needless to say GP arrived and couldn’t get in, so told me to open the lounge window, he climbed in, examined us wrote a prescription, then left by the same window!!
You poor thing, must of being scary , hope you are now feeling better. Our NHS can be marvellous but it can also be a huge failure, especially with after care. We certainly do need to be resilient!
