I saw the infectious disease specialist today for my cellulitis. He said that the pitting edema on both my legs is not from the cellulitis. He said it's either from liver, kidney or heart.
Last week my cardiologist changed my heart med from cardizem to verapamil because he thought the edema might be caused by the cardizem.
Does anyone have any info on this? Could the cardizem or heart failure be the culprit? Just looking for opinions, not diagnosis, as usual
Thanks!

Oedema is a common side effect of calcium channel blockers so why not see how things develop. I had the same problem on amlodipine which is another cakcium channel blocker.
Hi - I was wondering whether they couldn't exclude kidney and liver issues with blood tests to check function, and heart with an ultrasound. I would ask about those, maybe?
i have to go to the lab to get tested. Thanks for reminding me. The request has been at the lab for a few weeks and I forgot to go.
I'm wondering the difference between Cardizem and Verapamil. Doctor took me off Cardizem because he thinks it might be causing my leg edema. Only problem is I love Cardizem. It helps me a lot. I'm getting nauseated from the Verapamil, I think. I now don't have an appetite and my weight is dropping pretty fast. I went from 156 pounds to 143 in 5 days. Still no appetite.
