Hello Nora....,

In my case, the Maze put a stop to AF immediately. What does your cardiologist say?

May I ask, how was your procedure performed?

Best wishes

J

I had a full maze procedure at Cleveland clinic. I was afib free for almost 9 months. It was a full sternal incision.

Was this the mini-maze we see advertised so often or a full-on maze?

Hi Nora, I had the mini maze in April 2017, followed up with a catheter ablation ablation 6 months later to prevent flutter and complete the maze lesion set on the rear of the heart. My cardiologist believes this to be the "Gold standard" for AF treatment and claimed an 80% chance of being AF-free for twenty years. I thought this was a little optimistic, but I have been without AF since then and no drugs from November 2017.

Thanks, did you have the same physician for both procedures? Did you expect to have a follow up ablation? Glad it worked for you.
