After 3 years of gruelling treatment for breast cancer I had an attack of AF while in hospital recovering from 8 hours of reconstructive surgery. This happened last May and we all assumed it was a one off. Then I had another incident in November and put on apaxiban and Bisoprolol, then in the last three weeks I have had 3 more incidents that took 12 hours to settle. Ablation was mentioned by my cardiologist but my GP suggested I consider it. Has anyone had it after just 5 attacks which are becoming more frequent and has it worked?

I highly recommend having the ablation procedure. I had my first AF in June of 2009. I was originally put on Flecinide and Metoprolol to control my AF. It worked for about a year and half, but I did not like the side effects and certainly did not want to increase the dosage. My older brother (7 years older) had the ablation two years prior and was symptom free. I decided to go that route and had the procedure in February 2011. I have been AF free since then. I am careful not to get dehydrated or exhausted as those two spur AF attacks. Let us know what you decide to do and how it works out for you.
