We are not medically trained and can only speak from experience. I have been in continual af at around 158 bpm for 5 days. I just keep taking my pip (pill in pocket) and try to keep calm. I have never gone to a&e with af. If you have any chest pain, you must contact 111. What meds are you on? Try to relax. Hope it reverts to nsr soon.
Yes after about13 hours it has now eased thank goodness. I’m on apixaban blood thinner. I had awful heart burn with it which only added to the discomfort. New to this guess it’s something I will need to adjust to. Trust you stay well most of the time x
Out of interest what pill do you take
Marina it's not good for you to have a pulse that high, for so long. When I was once admitted to hospital with a rate of 160 which I'd had for around 8 hours, a nurse asked me why on earth I hadn't gone in earlier. However, I can understand your reluctance with the present situation.
Is your rate more or less a steady one at 158, or up and down?
How are you feeling?
Jean
Hi Jean,
It has been more or less around the 158 - highest was 184. I have reverted to nsr in the last hour following further pills. I feel a lot better and can actually do something without losing my breath! Thank you for your concern. As you say, I am very reluctant to go to A&E in the current crisis. I wilk be speaking to the arrhythmia nurse at the JR tomorrow. Take care.
Marina.
Trust you're ok now. I'm in MK hospital. Came in after talk with GP. Heart was in AF. Being monitored as they are trying out different drugs. Feeling fragile
Hi. I am feeling better today, thank you. I do hope you are OK too. I live near to MK, so if you need anything, let me know. Try to relax and rest. Take care.
That's very kind of you. A neighbour is bringing some bits over to reception as not allowed visitors. Just be glad when meds sortefd. Can t take beta blockers so they are trying something else. X
Just re-read your post. You said about speaking to your arrhythmia nurse. How did you get on? And that's great that you have a dedicated person to speak to. How do you get one?!
Hi. When I first went to the JR following diagnosis, they gave me a leaflet with the names of the nurses and their contact details. They are available Mon to Fri. If they are unable to answer the phone, I send an email with my Kardia readings and they show them to the consultant. I then get a call back from the nurse and/ or the consultant. He can then change my medication as required.
They want to see me as soon as it can be arranged as I may need a pacemaker. When I need to take a betablocker with my Flecanaide, I end up with a hr of about 35. Hope you are feeling better. Are you still in MK?
