My Final Word on the Coronavirus and an Apology to those who have been Stressed by those posts here

I've had a bit of a light bulb moment.

Some members not wanting to talk about the coronavirus on this forum is for a reason. They are very afraid and constantly talking about is really stressing them and they'd really prefer not to hear about it all the time! That's how some people cope, they don't want to be that way and can't help it causing them anxiety.

Now me, I like to hear other people's views on this and could talk about it for ever. However, I've suddenly realised that my view is a little selfish. Just because I find it all riveting, I mustn't ignore the way it makes some of my fellow AF friends on here feel .

With this in mind I think as BobD has suggested it's time we got back to what this forum is all about and that's AF. Of course if COVID19 posts relate to AF, then that's different.

Lets just do our best not to cause stress to others.

Added at 13.51 on 17/03/2020 - I've contacted Rachel to ask if we could have a Coronavirus - COVID19 forum on Health Unlocked

Added at 14.17 on 17/03/2020 Rachel has suggested I contact Health Unlocked with this request. Have just done that via email.

Added 15.23 - CD has just discovered that it's being discussed under the heading HU Latest. Thank you CD.

Totally agree Jean but we also need to provide a reasoned response to frightened souls who ask valid questions about the possible impact on their AF lives. It’s all about balance . . .

I see what you’re saying JJ.... it is really worrying reading about it everywhere so yes, it would be better if we left it alone here!

That’s sad Jean because I’ve always enjoyed your posts. I’m very anxious about the virus but I do like to keep up to date on the latest news.

Wonder if Health Unlocked might consider adding a Corona virus page.

That's exactly what I'd been thinking. Checked a short while ago and there's not a forum for it. Will put in a request.

I think it would be a good idea. I am in Australia not in an area affected as yet, but as we are in our 80’s we are in a high risk age group. Isolating ourselves is not a mentally healthy thing to do, especially if it’s going to go on for months. So having a forum might be helpful.

in reply to Pollywaffle10

I think so. It helps me to stay connected as we “ socially isolate” here.

In truth, people will continue to ask questions about any links between the Coronavirus and AF and it would be wrong to ignore them as this will only add to their anxieties. However, I suggest that nobody can add to anything meaningful to what has been said many times over and that the kindest and best thing is to refer them to previous posts and official statements.

I see on HU they are encouraging us to talk about it in our forum communities. Doesn't seem fair to cause stress to those who are really anxious about it though.

Not a forum but a post.

The downside of a new forum for "IT" will be it may become huge and we shall not "know" people. I totally understand dwelling on things you can't change is anxiety provoking for many and would hate them to lose valuable support because of this.

Like most things - moderation in everything.

Yes, I feel comfortable with this group, feels safe, like we could b sharing a cuppa at our breakfast table together! See, Im even learning new terms like cuppa😂😂😂

And there was I yesterday, sadly looking at my best teapot and wondering when It would be ‘out’ again. Cyber tea all round folks!

in reply to Finvola

Yes! Maybe something sweet to go with it?

As long as anybody posting shows clearly in the title that the subject is CV then anyone who is all CV'd out can avoid it?

Hi JJ 50

You earlier posting was informative, and relevant to AF sufferers. In my opinion, being well informed is invaluable, especially in these times

Best wishes

Hi Jean. My blues song went to down well the other day so you've inspired my to poetry... It's intended to be uplifting but having read your post I'm reluctant to post it here, but will maybe wait to see if there is a specific CV page.

(Update- Just posted it on HU latest instead)
