It varies enormously. In my case, before my ablation it could take more than 12 hours, but since my last ablation it’s taken less than an hour. I was prescribed Flecainide and told to take the maximum permitted daily dose but if it is prescribed for you, it is very important that you follow the instructions given by your doctor.

Hope you are feeling more relaxed this morning, it’s neither here nor there but are you male or female...normally the name gives us a clue, but not in your case 😉

Again, follow your doctor’s instructions, but I generally wait 15/20 minutes doing deep breaths to see if it reverts naturally before taking. I don’t get any significant side effects other than sometimes a slight tingling sensation around the lips and mild constipation, maybe for a couple of days....

Thanks for your message. Everyone on the forum will, I'm sure, do what they can to help you to get through. It might help both you, and us if you could give us more feedback when we respond to your questions and concerns as this will enable us to help you more......best wishes, John

I take flecainide and it usually stops within 30 minutes. Start with 100 and if it is still not really settled I take another 50.

For me a 100 mg of Flex as a PIP works in around 1 hour. I always carry one in my pocket 'just in case'.

I was given a PIP and instructions when I was on holiday 200 miles from home for the first time. At the time I was on Sotatol and given Flecainide as my PIP, 100mg after 30 mins from onset and then further 100mg an hour later if it hadn't worked. The success rate was about 70% overall. Since then , and two ablations later, I am now on Bisoprolol and have Flecainide as my PIP but with the instruction to take 300mg in one go on the onset of AF, so I guess all being different there isn't one clear basic instruction. Personally, if I have faith in my Cardiologist, which hasn't also been the case with previous ones, then I am more than happy and confident that their advice is the best shot.

For me I didn’t really find it worked as PiP

. Certainly not within a couple of hours

If I muck up and forget my Flecanide tab and take a higher dose because I’m in AFib it still can take 12 hours to come back under control.

Personally for me it’s only constant regular use that works.
