I have had some good feed back from lots of you but not about how the increased dose affected me so badly and has anyone else had a similar reaction.
Bad pains in chest and neck a really bad shortness of breath, stomach seemed to be rising and falling ,chest very little and panting for each breath , panic was setting in so was telling myself to keep calm, that seemed the longest and scariest night of my life.
I would be interested to know if this reaction to a high dosage of sotalol is unusual?
Glad to say feeling good now, love all your advice makes me feel reassured.

Hello Hatten, I’m sure you are not being ignored, the lack of response is probably because sotalol is not often prescribed in the UK for AF. Maybe some of our USA friends will pick up on your question when they wake up later!!
Never had Sotolol prescribed - in fact I got dire warnings by an eminent UK EP never to use for Lone AF so it’s never been on the agenda. US & European guidelines differ quite a lot.
I was swapped to Sotalol from Bisoprolol by an A+E doctor. I felt terrible when taking it.
As soon as my EP found out that my medication had been swapped he changed it back, and I believe he had a few words to say to the A+E doctor when he found him!
Sotalol worked for me at first but I was on a high dose and after a year of keeping me in NSR I began to experience bad sleeping with nightmares and a feeling of depression and then the AF episodes became more frequent. I was switched on to Bisoprolol which was not much better and then finally on to Nebivolol and this drug has worked wonders over the past two and a half years. However for how muvh longer i keep my fingers crossed!
Hello reinaway, reading all the comments it seems as if I should perhaps have a change of medication. Constantly tired and seem to have lost any interest in life in general.
