Prunes?

Hello all,

I love prunes, but I just found out that prunes are an 'excellent source of Vitamin K', which helps blood clot.

Since I'm on blood thinners, I'm wondering if I should avoid eating prunes...

We prefer to use anticoagulant rather than blood thinners on the basis that the blood is NOT thinned. A lot may depend on which anticoagulant you take. If it’s warfarin, then provided your INR remains in range, it shouldn’t be a problem. I only have experience of Apixaban and as far as I know, the only thing to avoid is grapefruit and grapefruit juice.

I eat prunes every day. I am on warfarin and my INR is stable between 2 & 3 every time it is tested.

I must admit I had no idea that prunes are high in Vitamin K.
