Lying in bed this morning I felt a fast burst of rapid heartbeat- just five or six successive fast and strong beats- then a return to normal rhythm. Is this PAF or something else given the short duration?

Burst of fast heartbeat
As one leading consultant once said, if it lasts less than 30 seconds it doesn't need a name.
I get those frequently but I've got mild Sick Sinus Syndrome so I blame it on that.
I get that too and I take Flecainide which so far has stopped AF episodes. The run of strong, heavy beats seem to be started by an ectopic. I think it is just my heart being irritable.
If it's 5 or 6 regular beats unlikely to be AF
I've experienced this occasionally, immediately after waking, but it quickly settled down into normal rhythm with no long term consequences.
I usually wake up with fast HR and anxiety, sometimes with ectopics.... still dipn't know why...??
I have had this before and after my ablation. Fast but regular beats that only last for 3 or 4 seconds. Get them at least weekly.
Thanks to all who have replied to this. I’ve had a few more of these episodes but they are becoming less frequent, so I’m hoping they will settle down. Cardiac nurses say that are “not of concern”.
Most anxiety sufferers can vouch for this including myself..only difference is mine is in the evening when I'm about to fall asleep
