Staggering method of detecting AF

Presumably the phone camera "sees through" to the arterial blood motion somehow (special light frequency?), a bit like the SpO2 monitors you get given on the end of your finger.

Oh i use afib app. Put finger on cam flash screen and it detects usually 30seconds

Apple watch. It is not automatic, nor anything to be honest as you do need to press a button if you think there is an event. W are still waiting for autonomous 24/7 self testing but it will come I'm sure.

I meant like an SpO2 meter, sorry to confuse! My watch measures HR fairly accurately even in AF but there is a companion app that records HR continuously and you can see the variation which gives you a good idea of what is going on.

I think this technology was the one they were talking about at Patient Day - there were some trials ? It is novel & nothing like the Apple technology which I think is a bit flaky.

Yes, checking the references of the Jama paper I posted, it appears to be an update publication of this one you've referred to. It's ref. 2 of the Jama paper, so, same team.
