This study found that the benefit of performing an ablation was not conclusively proven. Has any further follow materials been published?

At Patient Day they quoted a study which compared efficacy of ablation and drug therapies - and outcomes were very similar. If I can find the references - I’ll post the link.
Suddenly everyone is interested in ablation efficacy.......
Re: your reply on another thread - interesting data was also presented on Hybrid ablation done in London but too early for outcomes - an attempt to cover people in your situation where problematic areas are too close to other structures for catheter ablation.
It was also mentioned that the body has a tremendous ability to heal = ablation failure after time was often a result of the body healing the scar tissue which the wanted to form after burning to prevent the rogue signals. Hence ablation not being a ‘cure’.
I have been following Cabana after it was first mentioned to me by Prof Schilling 10 years ago. I don't think there are any updates. The trial was complicated through people switching protocols (i.e. ablation to drugs and v.v.) Some believe it shows no benefit to ablation. Others believe it does show benefit. It depends how you interpret the numbers.
Personally I think ablations are mainly a QoL thing. However I still believe there is some benefit to ablation beyond that. A lot of data I've seen show a reduction in strokes with ablation, though not reaching a conclusive level. I also think that if your QoL improves, then you will be fitter overall and this will lead to general health benefits such as reduced weight, lower BP, etc.
jamanetwork.com/journals/ja... Is an article which is the latest I could find. I’ve not seen anything else since the original study reported in Aug 2018. acc.org/latest-in-cardiolog...
