New Generation Heart monitors.

My 'heart' sank when my Cardiologist said that he wanted me to have a 24hr heart monitor. In the past these have malfunctioned on me, fallen off and been extremely cumbersome to wear.

I was very pleasantly surprised when this was fitted yesterday (see pic.) Lightweight, no wires and if I feel an 'episode' I press over the z and it goes into sensitive mode for analysis. I can even shower with it fitted and I don't even have to return it to the hospital. I post it!

Hope this is available in your area, a ZIO XT Patch by iRhythm Technologies.

If not, ask!

Hi Barb actually I have just read the article and actually it is a monitor put under the skin to pick up any arrhythmia, which there is two specialist nurses who receive the information saving consultants time

Really neat Barb - unlike the cumbersome thing I wore too. Thanks for sharing this.

I have had a Zio for 2 - 10 day stints a year apart. Sure beats a 24hr Holter. No PAF detected is a little more meaningfull.

It did pick up a 6-9 second SVT just about every day on the first one which dropped to 1 every week after I was on Flecainide for PAF.

I had trouble keeping it on the second time as it was so humid. So I just put tape over it to reattach it when it came off.
