Weightloss
A good BMI to aim for is 25. Most people put on weight due to some of the drugs they take for AF and reduction in energy levels etc.
Keep a food diary and record your weight. If you need to see your doctor again you will have some information for consideration.
I was the same losing a bit more but when things stabilised and the anxiety reduced it went up 3kgs and hasn't moved for a while. I did cut out some bad diet things and improved the quality of what I did eat, which meant I eat less. I wouldn't worry about it.
Hi Maisiemay. I was diagnosed with AF in 2011. Also now have moderate HF. Back then I had weighed 70k for years but I have been unintentionally losing weight over a long period and am now down to about 53k. My BMI is 18. I am 73 and about 5ft 8” tall. My GP has expressed concern about the weight loss and I had a CT scan towards the end of last year which did not show up any possible cause. I think I eat sufficiently. I weigh myself daily and keep a record. It does vary up and down a bit which could be due to fluid retention as this has been a problem due to the HF but take Furosemide and Spironolactone to counter the fluid retention..
